Here’s a quick drawing video of me doodling a random character. It’s at about 2x normal speed. I really should do more of these.

My buddy Ryan Newgard entrusted me with the video portion of his Survivor application last summer. Now I’m posting it on my website for your amusement…

My wife and I are actually pretty big fans of the show and for the life of us, can’t figure out why he hasn’t been chosen. He should’ve been a shoo-in especially with such weak casting the past couple of seasons. One of the funniest guys you could ever meet.

Video Run Time 3:45 - Here’s another video demo of me drawing, this time the subject is one of my cartoon dog characters. I’ve been scoping out the digital camcorder scene, what a deep pond of water that is. After a bit of research I’ve got my eye on a few models, the Panasonic PV-GS300 in particular. Enjoy the video and if you’ve got a comment or suggestion, I’m all ears! (click here if you can’t see the video below)

I enjoy watching other artists draw stuff so I figured I’d dust off the old video camera post something of my own. There’s no audio… maybe I’ll get brave enough and slap a mic on for the next one… Enjoy! (click here if you can’t see the video below)

Looks like one of my drawing demos got picked up by a site called Ehrensenf.de , which seems to be the German equivalent of Rocketboom. It’s cool on one hand because it’s sending me loads of traffic, but on the other hand I don’t speak German so I can’t make out what was actually said.
I filtered the comments through Google’s translation tool but didn’t find much other than a few people having an issue with me using the swastika. All I can seem to make out in the video is my name and “illustration.” Anyone out there speak German well enough to translate the video for me?
UPDATE: Koko, a visitor from German was kind enough to translate the segment for me. Happy to find out it was a positive recommendation! Here is Koko’s translation:
[...connecting passage...] the artist Brad Fitzpatrick. OK, actually he just shows his visitors how he illustrates drawings with his computer, but this is really interesting, like incidentally the rest of his website [...next passages...]
Phew!

Although like every other intelligent person on the planet I despise everything Adolf Hitler ever stood for. Subject aside, I think it turned out to be a nice caricature. Since it was such a simple design I thought I’d record the process of finalizing the art. Enjoy the process, not the subject…. Cheers.

I get quite a few emails from people wanting to know what software I use to create my illustrations… most are surprised when I tell them I produce about 95% of my work directly in Flash. Below is a video demo of how I generally create my finished illustration. I start of with a scanned pencil sketch and trace over it in Flash using primarily the “line” and “selection” tools, along with the occasional pencil stroke. Enjoy!
