Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a traditional illustration project for a mock retro comic book ad. It’s for an Etnus promotional campaign. The final art will be rendered in pen & ink, colored in photoshop…

Some days I feel like this guy. Waiting patiently (or more realistically - procrastinating) for something and when it finally arrives or it actually gets done, BAM! I screwed something up that should have been pretty obvious.

I’m currently working on a character design for a client that needs a “tough, but nice” black sheep character for his business mascot. I think these two guys are a good start in nailing down the attitude, but I think we might have to simplify him a bit by losing the clothes and possibly the halo. He’s a good guy, but not that good I guess. There’s also talk of bringing him back down to all fours so there’s no mistaking he’s a sheep.

Here’s a little before and after of a cartoon coyote character from a recent Flash animation project. I like how sly the character’s expression turned out in the final… In the animation his eyebrows go up and down quickly so it really adds to his attitude… I should have his tongue licking his chops with a few chicken feathers floating around in the background.

Here’s a quick caricature sketch of Howard Stern I created for a secret little side project that’s in the works… Just a little sneak peak, so stay tuned…
I also thought this fit in nicely with this week’s Illustration Friday topic… “Free.” In a few weeks, he’ll be broadcasting via Sirius Satellite and he’ll be free from the FCC. That should be interesting.
