Itsy Bitsy

cartoon spider picture Old Mr. Spider here came from a tiiiny little doodle in my sketchbook... a scribble really. Hardly no detail whatsoever but he had good form. I've found that working loosely and very small, say 1x1" when sketching really helps keep the object feeling loose and less rigid.

Generally when you work larger it's too easy to focus on drawing the details. Working small takes that whole element right away and I think actually produces more energy in the form. Ok it's just a spider but you get my point.

this is one of my favorite illustrations you’ve done. Simple to the point. I can see this on a t-shirt. On a ball cap. A sticker on the back of a car. with a slogan “I’m afraid of people” or “icky bugs need love” or something crazy like that. Or not. Maybe those sayings are not so hot.

Thanks for the comment Adam! I can see by your site; TotallyGreat.com that you know what I’m talking about by drawing loosely. And I really like the “I’m Afraid of People” idea. I might just have to do something about that. :)

I have always stayed towards graffiti, closest I have come to drawing and stuff but just recently become interested in characters.

So I was looking around and found your site.
