nice – that’s a cool way to do Illustration Friday too. I also have a time-lapse of mine, but take on the computer as I work. Peace – Richard

WOW! This was really very fun and fascinating to watch. I just adore seeing illustrations come to life, and your little elephant is funny and adorable. And obviously very light! Thanks for creating this.

What kind of blue pencil is that? I have only be able to find just basic color pencils and use the light colors. Was that a felt pen to ink it or was that a hb2 pencil?

    Love your style!

Thats really cool, its amazing what people can draw from nothing. I’ve tried taking classes to draw but i can’t get a hold of the concepts, but i do have a great appreciation for those that can.

Hey Chato. The pencil I use for the basic rough sketch is a Col-Erase colored pencil by Prismacolor (20044 Blue). I sometimes use red too but I seem to have settled down comfortably with the blues.

They are nice to use because after you draw the final sketch over the blues with a darker pencil or pen… you can remove the blue lines entirely by editing the color channel in Adobe Photoshop… then you just have the dark lines left. This technique is fairly new to me, I started using it this past year and it’s working well. I no longer have to use my light table nearly as much which is nice because I never liked have multiple pieces of paper for the same drawing.

The darker pencil I use is a very soft graphite Sanford Design Ebony (Jet Black Extra smooth 14420). These are so soft it’s almost like painting with a pencil.

    Hope this helps!

You have very good drawing skills. I also love the idea of an elephant getting carried away in the wind.
