The Attention Getter

This was one of my most disliked cartoons of all time. I thought it was one of my most clever cartoons of all time. Go figure.

I think it is disliked because people don’t like to admit or deal with problems…and possibly because it is a little graphic…usually though if people don’t like something it means you’ve effectively made a statement :) It probably hits a nerve with a lot of people, one that hits a nerve.

It’s very very true, and I agree with the below statement, it can hit a nerve among most people.

It is distasteful! I know people who have killed themselves and it is rather sad. This is not respectful to those people.

@Kevin, thanks for the comment and your excellent link to your MFA site on the Great Wall of China.

To be clear, my intention was *not to be* respectful of people who kill themselves. In my book people who kill themselves and abandon their loved ones in such a manner do not deserve the respect you suggest.

    witty witty witty.

in response to the above comments; I love the graphic nature, the pee and flies. Im in no way a morbid person but do consider myself a realist with a good sense of humour. I have a teenage son with a drug problem, I was in such denial for months I was thinking he was just trying to get attention. This cartoon DID hit home. Thanks for the chuckle. ;)

I have to say this is disturbing, I do understand the gag and I like your style. I can understand why you feel this way:

“To be clear, my intention was *not to be* respectful of people who kill themselves. In my book people who kill themselves and abandon their loved ones in such a manner do not deserve the respect you suggest.”

Harsh words and tell me it might hit close to home for you too. They done need respect, they need help… Although Fitz we have to consider that Mental Illness play a huge part in the act of suicide and abandoning the family is the not what they believe they are doing… 90% it because we might believe we are saving them from the wrath of destruction them disorders can put on family and friends. It is a view of an a imbalanced mind and with the right help I was able to find my balance. I know with all my heart even back then I wanted to live but my mind kept deceiving me.

I got help and I’m here with my family help others that live with mental disorder towards recovery.

Here is one of my cartoons about suicide, it my own take on the Suicide Bunny toons Andy Riley…

I can understand why people would not like it but I do. I knew close friends that killed themselves or tried, and I still laughed. I think cartoons should have a morbid side to them every once in a while to shake it up now and then..Good job, and hope to see more.

I think its great, but I can see why a lot of people would think it is disturbing. What does that say about me? :)
